Parents of a young boy speak out after their son was injured in an attack at a suburban school that was captured on another student’s phone.
At least two children have been attacked at Calumet College on the outskirts of Calumet Park in recent months. One of the attacks happened at the end of last month at school, leaving parents terrified.
“As a parent, I would be furious if this happened to my child. Livid, ”said Alicia Robinson, who had three children in school.
Another parent, who asked to remain anonymous, said their child was in the classroom when the attack occurred.
“Seeing this and talking to my child, they expressed regret that they had not tried to help the little boy,” she said.
The attack, captured in disturbing video, shows one student standing on top of another, repeatedly punching and kicking his classmate.

Parents of a young boy speak out after their son was injured in an attack at a suburban school that was captured on another student’s phone. Regina Waldroup of NBC 5 has the exclusive story.
A police report from the day shows that the boy’s mother went to police about the attack, telling officers she had been contacted by the school nurse. The nurse told the boy’s mother that her son had a lump on his head but did not have a concussion.
When the boy’s father picked him up from school, he observed knots on his son’s head, as well as bruising and swelling. He then took him to a local hospital.
The parents chose not to sign a criminal complaint against the student, saying they preferred the school to conduct an internal investigation. The district says it is doing just that and is working with students, their parents and staff to deal with the gravity of the situation.
The victim’s parents say he is better after the attack, but still faces the consequences of the violent attack.
